Film "Heads of State" "We give, they take" so give up hegemony

I just happened to watch this film on my recent long international flight. UK prime minister and US President escaped from crashing Air Force One and made their way back to their duties.

A typical American hero story but filled with thrilling development and super actions. I could enjoy and kill my time on the long flight.

At the last part of the film, one character said "We give, they take" to express America's dissatisfaction with its allies reflecting the current status of America, which is no longer able to maintain the hegemonic power like in the cold war era but still being burdened with the obligation.

That is why the US decided not to attack Iran and not to provide weapons to Taiwan depending on how the US can deal with mainland China. Recently the US decided to loose sanction on Russia to lower the oil price. China and Russia are taking advantage of such measures.

The US under Trump admnistration might be choosing isolation policy so the US will not intervene in other nations' affairs at all.

So just give up the hegemony. So stop the stupid project in Okinawa, Japan now as described in this post.

That's what I want to say after watching the film.
